Penny Carnival NOVEMBER 22nd @ 7pm

Each November this event is hosted to raise funds to help support the many field trips for all students. This is the only fundraising event that the school hosts throughout the school year. Each class receives upwards of $500 -$1000 that goes towards subsidizing annual field trips. For those new to Penny Carnival, students bring in used toys to be awarded as prizes at a variety of games. Grade 6/7 students run many games in the gym where other students will pay one or two tickets to play. There are also pie and cake walks which cost 4 tickets, a silent auction room for adults and for children, a coffee/tea room and a small concession. Bring a grocery bag to store the toys that your child wins as they will want to take them home and treasure them forever. Tickets sell for 25 cents each and again the games will cost between 1 and 4 tickets. We request a donation from each student’s family of old toys and for some baking items. We are always overwhelmed with the response from the community. This is an awesome way of cleaning out your house of all the toys that your child no longer uses or has outgrown.

Don’t forget to bring in the assigned baking, and any toys that you are wanting to donate to the Penny Carnival. Please bring friends and family out to a truly fun community social evening.

Thank you to the members of the Parent Council that have taken on the collection and the management of the items for the Silent Auction. This offer of support from the Parent Council is very much appreciated by the entire staff. If you or a local business is interested in donating a silent auction item, please drop it off at the school with a name tag or business card attached. There will be separate adult and children silent auction rooms.

All silent auction items will have starting bids.

We ask for the following commitment from the students:

-Gently used toys from all grades can come in anytime.

-Grade 5, 6, 7 - a cake for the cake walk

-Grade 3, 4 - a dozen cookies/squares for the coffee/tea room

-Grade K, 1, 2 - at least 2 pies for the pie walk

We will need baked items brought in on Thursday, November 21st . Please call the school if you have any questions. Invite all your neighbors, friends & family

Congratulations!!! Macy in Gr 7. She was the winner of the Book Fair Draw and got to pick out books for herself and her classroom.

SAFE ARRIVAL

To enhance our existing absence-checking procedure, we are introducing a new, more efficient student absence reporting system called SafeArrival.  This new system will reduce the time it takes to verify student attendance, make it easy for you to report your child’s absence and easy for staff to respond to unexplained student absences.

There are 3 easy and convenient ways to submit your child absence from school.

1. Use the SafeArrival website, https://go.schoolmessenger.com. The first time you use the website, select Sign Up to create your account. Select Attendance then Report an Absence.

2. Call the toll-free number 1-855-756-2797 to report an absence using the automated phone system.

3. Download and install the SchoolMessenger app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
